Valley Nurse Practitioner Finds Depression and PTSD Relief Through Use of Ketamine

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – A Valley Nurse Practitioner offers eligible patients with depression, PTSD, and other mental health conditions the option of using ketamine for treatment.

Arizona Healing Collective offers a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy program in Mesa where a patient will receive a low dose of ketamine. The drug has a psychedelic, healing effect on the brain and triggers the formation of healthy new neural pathways.

“More research has been done in the last 10 years, and it links the powerful benefit of ketamine in psychotherapy,” said Ajona Olsen, NP. “Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is based on three pillars: mindset, settings, and integration.”

A nurse practitioner will sit next to the patient as they lie on a bed surrounded by pillows, relaxing music and more in a low stimulation environment. The nurse stays with the individual throughout the treatment, and at the end of the session, the nurse will tell the patient about their experience and note their experiences under the influence of the dosage.
