Speaker on mental wellness scheduled for Monday evening

A mental wellness speaker will give a free presentation Monday evening at the Ascension Business Office.

The Portage/Wood Counties Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Mental Wellness Awareness Coalition for Suicide Prevention welcome Chad Taylor, MA, LPC, Counselor at Aspirus Behavioral Health.

Taylor will present on presentation on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a type of therapy that combines mindfulness, acceptance, and emotional regulation strategies to foster positive change.

DBT was originally developed to help people with borderline personality disorder, but has been successfully adapted to treat many mental health issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder , ADHD, suicidal behaviors and other self-destructive behaviors.

The presentation will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 28 in the Oak Room of the Ascension Business Office, 2501 Main Street in Stevens Point. Attendees must enter through the gates from the east parking lot.
